Saturday the Nerang Prems played at home and won a very convincing 4-0 against Souths United - a Haul to newcomer Kane Lincoln.
The Academy of Football lads Max, Ethan, Michael, Harrison, Josh and Henry all made their debut for Nerang in the Prem game against Sideline commentary from AFA players watching said the boys played:
On Saturday 11th February saw a number of the AFA boys make their debut in Seniors Football playing for Nerang Soccer Club against Burleigh Heads Soccer Club. Sam did an awesome job down the side, Dion won the ball on a number of occasions, and Gaby had a number of good runs down the pitch. Juan one of our AFA coaches played alongside the lads, his fast and accurate kicking got Nerang out of trouble several times. It was great to see from the side lines.
As a spectator, I got to hear the 'sideline' noise and both sides felt the boys held their own and did a very good job. It was mentioned a few times that last year when they played against this team Nerang got 'flogged' 5-0, the score on Saturday 1-0 to Burleigh. A chat after the game with a Burleigh Senior Player said that he was 'impressed the the class of football the boys played'. Congratulations to the boys and the AFA Coaching Team - you should be very pleased with yourselves. From left to right: Dion, Juan, Sam and Gab Under 15s will play on Saturday the 11th of February, at 2:30 pm on Field 2.
We wish both teams the very best, and remember to hydrate, hydrate and hydrate some more! Gold Coast Football announced today that Nerang Soccer Club, in partnership with the Academy Of Football Australia (AFA), is proud to announce that we have formed an official alliance with Celtic FC to become an International Partner Club.
After touring the UK over the last three years, we were approached by a number of large professional football clubs to form alliances, and although they were all very appealing, we found Celtic FC to be the best fit with our vision and ambitions. Many International clubs were more interested in the revenue that they could generate from overpriced junior camps and apparel sales, but Celtic FC completely understood our ambitions, and together we customised an agreement for the people of the Gold Coast. We strongly believe that future Australian powerhouse football clubs will emerge from community clubs that get their business models right from humble beginnings. This all starts with providing quality facilities and coaching at prices that are affordable for everyone, while building community support and pride. Celtic FC will play an important role in Nerang Soccer Club’s development, as they provide us with invaluable advice as we grow. Benefits from the partnership are immediate, with our coaching staff having access to Celtic FC’s world-class cutting-edge training programs, and two of our head coaches have been invited to attend the Celtic Soccer Academy International Coaches Convention in Scotland in March. Shortly after this, Celtic FC will host a junior soccer camp at Nerang Soccer Club in April; followed by an Elite Player ID camp in Brisbane where Celtic FC partner clubs from around Australia will send only the best of their best. This is a no-nonsense ID Camp, and Celtic FC are looking for the next Aussie superstar. If somebody impresses enough, they will be taken to the Celtic FC Academy in Scotland, all expenses paid! We are very excited about this partnership with Celtic FC, and look forward to being a major part of sustainable football development on the Gold Coast and in Australia. The temperature for Saturday is predicted to reach 36 degrees... thanks to Shane - the Under 15s will now get to play their friendly against Capalaba at a much cooler 5:00 pm on Field 3.
