12 weeks to the start of the football season

21/11/2017

Comments

To say there is unrest in the Gold Coast Football community would have to be the biggest understatement of 2017... This has resulted in many kids floating about, unsure of where they will be playing in 2018, with only 12 weeks to go before the start of the season this is not where you want to be!

At AFA and Nerang we know exactly where we are going, we have our coaches and teams training four nights a week from now until Christmas. We will be starting up again on January 3, 2018.

We welcome you to come down to West Fields if you have been left high and dry and without a team. Many of our players, play up a year so we offer flexibility in teams, in some of our age groups we are offering multiple teams, so if you have the skill and the right attitude - come on down!

West Fields, Nerang Broadbeach, Carrara
5.00 pm to 6.30 pm (ish) Monday through to Thursday

Football Gold Coast has decided to start the season earlier to offset the down period during the Commonwealth Games.

Please see below for details. Nerang Soccer Club will be sending out sign on and registration details soon.

Competition Juniors (U12 to U18) ⚽⚽⚽
  • Commencing 16th & 17th February 2018 (lightning premiership)
  • Clubs will nominate teams in desired divisions prior to Football Gold Coast conducting a Lightning Premiership from 16th February to finish on 24th March 2018 and then break for the Games.
  • Upon completion of the Lightning Premiership, Football Gold Coast will place teams in appropriate divisions and the competitive season will commence on the 20th & 21st of April 2018 - after the Commonwealth Games

Important changes for 2018
  • The Under 12 structure will change with effect from 2018. The new structure will see a 9v9 format (9 a-side) with smaller pitch dimensions, passive offside but remaining as competitive fixtures. U12s are no longer on a full-size pitch but they do have a full ladder and competition format.
  • The Under 15 competition will move from a Friday evening to a Saturday.
