The AFA was privileged to have ex-Socceroo Michael Thwaite join the coaching staff at last night's training session.
Michael took control of the Under 18 team for the session. Throughout the night Michael passed on valuable information to the players that he has learned from playing as a professional footballer. Michael made 13 appearances for the Socceroos and from 2008 has played for Melbourne Victory, Gold Coast United, Perth Glory, Liaoning Whowin (China) and is now a Western Sydney Wanderer. AFA's Head coach Gary Scott said "it was a great night for the players to receive first-hand knowledge from such an experienced player as Michael. He has been there, done that and still doing it which is a true testament to the professionalism of Michael. You can't get a better person to illustrate to the players what it takes and the sacrifices you have to make to be successful in this sport." The players themselves were truly grateful for the advice Michael passed on to them and for taking time out of his schedule to be involved with the academy. Michael, anytime you are on the Gold Coast, you are welcome to stop by. We wish you every success for the upcoming season with the Wanderers. Image: Jordan Bishop, Michael Thwaite, Garry Scott. |
