AFA COMMUNITY PROJECT

As you all know, Gary our DOI asks AFA families to commit to a Community Project each season. This year we put together some sports packs for children in need. The initial donation was the soccer balls which formed part of our Nerang Soccer Club player registration, and together with other sponsors/businesses we were able to bump it up to a fantastic sports pack!

I would like to thank Tanya Sabados for taking the reins on this, and doing a wonderful job on behalf of AFA! (I know who to ask for help again in future......!!)

So, with a warm fuzzy feeling, 20 soccer sport packs were delivered to the
Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, who were extremely grateful. They explained that the packs will go to disadvantaged children, either in foster care or under supervised care in their own home. Many of these children do not have the opportunity to play sport or be involved in any sporting activities, so these packs will enable this to happen and put smiles on little faces.

Each pack contained a soccer ball, playing kit, drink bottle, cap, squishy ball and a bag. Thanks to the following for their kind donations:
  • AFA players (Under 13 + 14) for donating their soccer balls
  • St George Bank
  • Foxtel
  • MyFootDr
  • Gorilla Sports
  • Wingspan Sports
  • Chris Klaus

It was a pleasure to be involved in a project which may seem small to us, however it'll have a positive impact on those that need it most. For privacy reasons we were unable to personally distribute.

Thank you AFA Families

I just wanted to write and thank you again for your kind donation. As you could imagine many of the children in foster care have not previously had the opportunity to play sport or be involved in sporting activities. The sporting packs you have given us will be distributed to our children and I will let you know how they were received.
Please thank all of the boys for their effort in putting these together for us.
